The Living Sword is a free Bible reading app. We collect no personal information. There are no ads, no accounts, and no paywalls. The app simply connects your device to our public Bible API to display scripture.
Reading progress, translation preferences, font size, and your daily reading streak are stored locally on your device only (using AsyncStorage on mobile or localStorage on the web). This data never leaves your device.
The web app optionally generates an anonymous device ID stored in your browser's localStorage. This ID is used only to exclude your own visits from aggregate page-view counts. It contains no personal information.
If you choose to subscribe to optional email updates, we store your email address solely to send those updates. We never sell or share your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
The mobile app is built with Expo (React Native). It does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Network requests are made only to our API at thelivingsword.org to retrieve Bible text.
The Living Sword does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. Because no personal data is collected, COPPA obligations do not apply.
