1 Pois todo sumo sacerdote tomado dentre os homens é constituído em prol das pessoas nas coisas [relativas] a Deus, para apresentar tanto ofertas como sacrifícios pelos pecados;
2 e ele é capaz de se compadecer dos ignorantes e dos errados, pois ele mesmo também está rodeado de fraqueza.
3 E, por causa desta [fraqueza] ,ele tem o dever de apresentar oferenda, tanto pelos pecados do povo, como também de si mesmo.
4 E ninguém toma para si esta honra, a não ser aquele que é chamado por Deus, como Arão.
