1 Clama em alta voz, não te retenhas; levanta tua voz como trombeta; e anuncia a meu povo sua transgressão, e à casa de Jacó seus pecados.
2 Porém eles me buscam diariamente, e tem prazer em conhecer os meus caminhos, como [se fossem] um povo que pratica justiça, e não abandona o juízo de seu Deus; perguntam-me pelos juízos de justiça, e tem prazer em se achegarem a Deus.
3 [Eles dizem:] Por que nós jejuamos, e tu não dás atenção a isso? [Por que] afligimos nossas almas, e tu não o reconheces?Eis que nos dia em que jejuais, continuais a buscar [apenas] aquilo que vos agrada, e sobrecarregais todos os que trabalham para vós.
4 Eis que jejuais para brigas e discussões, e para dardes socos de maldade; não jejueis como [fazeis] hoje, para que vossa vossa voz seja ouvida no alto.
5 Seria este o jejum que eu escolheria, que o homem um dia aflija sua alma, incline sua cabeça como o junco, e estenda debaixo [de si] saco e cinza? Chamarias tu a isto jejum e dia agradável ao SENHOR?
