5 Porém não obedeceram, nem inclinaram seus ouvidos para se converterem de sua maldade, para não oferecer incenso a outros deuses.

6 Por isso se derramou minha indignação e minha ira, e acendeu-se nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém, e tornaram-se em desolação e em destruição tal como está hoje.

7 Agora pois, assim diz o SENHOR dos exércitos, Deus de Israel: Por que fazeis tão grande mal contra vossas almas, para serdes eliminados homem e mulher, criança e bebê de peito, do meio de Judá, sem que vos sobre um restante sequer;

8 Irritando-me com as obras de vossas mãos, oferecendo incenso a outros deuses na terra do Egito, para onde entrastes para morar; de modo que sereis eliminados, e servireis de maldição e de humilhação entre todas as nações da terra?

9 Por acaso já vos esquecestes das maldades de vossos pais, das maldades dos reis de Judá, das maldades de suas mulheres, e das vossas [próprias] maldades, e das maldades de vossas mulheres, que foram feitas na terra de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém?
