What Does “Have Faith in God” Mean?

After the withered fig tree astonished His disciples, Jesus commands faith whose object is God Himself — not faith in faith, outcomes, or technique. The mountain-moving promise that follows rests on God’s power and will, and its companion verses tie believing prayer to forgiving others.

Take Jesus at His Word Today

Honest Reflection

Jesus doesn't say 'have more faith' or 'work on your faith.' He says have faith in God — place your trust specifically and actively in Him. When circumstances are hard, when you don't understand what is happening, when the answer hasn't come — are you actually trusting God? Not trusting your own spiritual effort, not trusting the outcome, but trusting in Him personally. What does your response to difficulty reveal about where your faith actually rests?

The Challenge

Name the burden you are carrying right now. The anxiety, the broken relationship, the unanswered question. Bring it to God today and trust Him with it — not your own scheming, not your ability to fix it. Stop controlling the outcome. Rest in His care for this specific thing. Do it now, without dictating how He must answer.

Kingdom

When you truly trust God, you move beyond agreement to lived dependence. You experience His presence and faithfulness not as doctrine but as reality. This trust draws you closer to the Father's heart, deepening your relationship with Him through every uncertain circumstance.
