People cling to “universalism”—the idea that everyone is eventually saved—simply because they do not want to face the consequences of sin. You might argue, “How can a loving God do this?” You are judging the Creator by your own fallen standards. But true love is not hiding the truth to protect someone’s feelings; it is warning them of the cliff they are sprinting toward. When you refuse to speak of judgment, you are not being compassionate; you are being cruel. You are keeping people in delusion, preventing the repentance they need. God is not looking for your intellectual agreement; He is looking for your submission. Stop trying to soften the Gospel to make it palatable. A Gospel without the reality of hell is a Gospel without a Savior, because there is nothing to be saved from.
